Space Tracking and Data Acquisition System
- Space tracking and data acquisition of spacecraft are conducted by multiple systems including domestic and overseas ground stations with large-scale antennas, a networked control system which enables remote operations of these stations from an operation center in Tsukuba, a spececraft control system which monitors and controls satellites, and a flight dynamics system which allows orbit determination and estimation of satellites.
- The networked control system, the spececraft control system*, and the flight dynamics system are all located in Tsukuba Space Center (Tsukuba-City, Ibaraki Pref., Japan), where we track and control satellites around the clock.
- Tsukuba Space Center is connected with domestic and overseas ground stations over a communication network, which constitutes the Space Tracking and Data Acquisition Network.
* A tracking and control system for science missions is located in Sgamihara, Kanagawa Pref., which is operated by the Institute of Space and Astronautical Science (ISAS), JAXA.
